Our World Champion Josh Dillon

Josh Dillon is a first year student at The Donahies Community School, Dublin 13. During the mid term break Josh was a member of the Ireland wheelchair football team that took part in the World Championships in Paris. His selection and participation on this team is a source of great pride to everyone at the school.

As part of the Christmas first year party Josh and his Dad organised for his class mates and staff to experience the game. A truly memorable morning was spent in the sports hall. Despite the best efforts of everyone it was clear why Josh is the world champion as he gave an awesome display of his skills. Like all sports the skill levels only improve with practice and everyone was left in no doubt that wheelchair football is a seriously tough game requiring dedication and effort. All of his class mates in first year not to mention the teachers, thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.

At the end of the exhibition Josh and his Dad presented his jersey to the school. Mr Keohane accepted the jersey on behalf of the school and expressed to Josh the honour he had brought to the Donahies by representing his country at the pinnacle of his sport. The jersey will be framed and displayed in a prominent location where we will always remember his exploits.

Josh has also just learned that he has been picked to play on the Senior Irish team for the forthcoming European Championships which will be held in Limerick this coming July, so we wish him continued success.
